Carol's research interests are in the structural and mechanistic details of protein complex, protein oligomers and amyloid formation. Currently she is developing physiologically relevant methods for studying the misfolding of prion protein in a test tube. These are needed to compare the biochemical properties of prion protein involved in chronic wasting disease (CWD) and transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs). Her Ph.D was in Protein Biochemistry under the supervision of Dr. Ray Turner. She then gained expertise in the structural study of amyloid fibrils under Prof. Sheena Radford.
